Something holy burned in Taichung last weekend.
While most spent the long holiday traveling or resting, more than a thousand men and women gathered in a banquet hall to hear the Gospel. The atmosphere was thick with expectancy, as if heaven itself leaned in to listen.
CBMC Taiwan President Ben Nan and Vice President Richard arrived to witness what could only be called a divine spark becoming flame. What began as a plan for 100 tables expanded to 115, welcoming over 1,150 guests. More than 70% were seekers. Attendance reached 99%. Numbers alone couldn’t explain it; only the Spirit could.
The Beauty of Unity
Two newly established chapters — Changhua, led by Nancy, and Taichung Software Park’s “8C Chapter,” led by Ella — carried the vision. Both new to leadership, yet seasoned in faith, they guided their teams with quiet strength and prayerful precision.
They united 23 churches and 58 businesses across the region. Volunteers came from Taichung, Douliu, and Chiayi, joyfully serving in every role: greeting, registering, praying, and setting up tables.
Before the first guest arrived, Chairman Paul Wang led a prayer walk through the hall, asking God to cleanse the space and prepare hearts. It wasn’t ceremony; it was consecration. That unity of spirit became the tinder for what would soon ignite.
The Power of the Gospel
Guest speaker Vintz Huang (Huang Kuo-Lun), a well-known singer and songwriter across Taiwan and Mainland China, stood not as an entertainer but as a man redeemed. His testimony — full of humor, humility, and hard-won faith — became the spark.
He spoke of sin, salvation, and the grace that makes the impossible possible. Scripture rang through the hall like a bell:
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26
When the invitation came, it was as though fire leapt from heart to heart. Over 500 people — some say closer to 700 — stood and walked forward to receive Christ. Every aisle filled, every corner overflowed. Tears fell. Voices prayed. Heaven rejoiced.
It was not emotion; it was awakening.
A Movement Rekindled
That same night, photos and testimonies spread through CBMC’s Asia-Pacific network, stirring others to faith.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel,” one CBMC leader wrote, quoting Romans 1:16, “for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”
What happened in Taichung wasn’t isolated. It was contagious. Leaders from other nations began planning their own Gospel outreach dinners, longing to see the same fire fall in their cities and workplaces.
The Ancient Flame Still Burns
Since its founding in 1930, CBMC has been lighting fires like this: one dinner, one story, one life at a time. These gatherings have sparked new faith, new fellowships, and new chapters around the world.
Nearly a century later, the mission remains unchanged: to transform the business and professional world through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Taichung was not an event to be remembered. It was a flame to be carried.
Over 500 came to Christ that night. Yet the true miracle was the rediscovery that the Gospel still burns; still ignites hearts, still transforms lives, still sets cities aflame with the love of God.
“To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” — Ephesians 3:21
