Pestilence Confronted: Get Ready!

Pestilence Confronted: Get Ready!

“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”  (Matthew 24:44)

How is your CBMC team doing? Are you still able to meet? Do you meet in-person or online (Zoom)? Are you thinking about the post Covid days and what you will do to mobilize more CBMC leaders to proclaim and disciple? Are you planning events?

Our CBMC Tucson team (Tucson, Arizona, USA, my home town) is spending time at each Connect3 weekly meeting (we meet in-person now) talking and planning for the days when we can have events. We are talking about both in-reach events (where we invite other Christ-followers who may not be part of CBMC) and out-reach events, which are designed for business and professionals who are not Christ-followers. We know the Covid time will end eventually as vaccines are made available and our city opens up. We want to be ready. We also pray for our 10 most important (wanted) list and opportunities for conversations about Christ and the gospel. We pray and ask God to help us mobilize Christian business and professionals (laborers of Luke 10:2) so we can evangelize and disciple as many business and professionals as possible.

Jesus told parables (ten virgins, tenants) and spoke openly about the need to be ready for his (Jesus) return (Matthew 24: 36-50). Jesus’ return is as real and inevitable as his life, death and resurrection. I think one of the big reasons he reminded his close disciples about his return was he knew the distractions of the world would come. They would need to be reminded often to remember.  Jesus told them:

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.” (Matthew 24:45-47)

Perhaps you should suggest that your CBMC teams make post-Covid event plans for CBMC in your city?

Blessings,
Jim Firnstahl

Global Prayer Points

Africa: Pray for the growth of CBMC in Africa, even during these challenging days. Also, pray for the translation of Operation Timothy into Portuguese and Arabic.

Asia/Pacific: Pray that the virus will not continue especially in India. Pray for the translation of Operation Timothy to Khmer, the language of Cambodia.

Europe: Pray that our work will bear fruit and bring many business leaders to Christ. Specific prayer requests can be sent to [email protected]

Latin America: Pray for protection and healing of CBMC families and team members who are in Brazil and Mexico, continued ‘hot spots’ of the pandemic.
